| At the beginning of the year our class filled out a pre-assessment, then a few days ago our class filled out the same assessment. These were the differences in some of my answered. What is Art? At first I thought art was something someone makes for others to enjoy or just to communicate something. Now I know that art is anything that someone makes for fun or to send a message or to express themselves ect. Before it took this class I thought art had to be something serious, deeply thought provoking in order to be considered art. Now I understand that there are many different types of art. Some art is serious and some is thought provoking, so if just for others enjoyment. I now have learned that art is what ever the artist makes for any type of purpose whether it be just for fun or to send a message. What are some reasons artists would need to use observation in their art? My first thoughts were simply to make art realistic. My answer now is different, artists can use observation to make something look realistic, to correctly represent the object, for different types of art like scientific drawings or sculptures or to make the art not realistic like in cartoons. The use of observation is a very important tool that an artist uses, I did not really enjoy or appreciate observational art before I learned its uses. I thought that the only reason an artist would need to observe something was to make it be realistic As much as I at first did not like to use observation it became an important skill I now posses. What is artistic style? List as many as possible. My first answer literally is one line, it is the way an artist makes art unique, their style. I now have learned about artistic style as like the way the art is created or a stylistic way the art looks. I also listed cubism realism impressionism abstract art ect. I really think this is the most different of my answers because I went from just kinda making something up to a real answer that list some real techniques. I feel like this definitely shows what I have learned about artistic styles. I used to not know even what artistic style was, now I know what it is and how it is used in art. What is the point of this class, what do/did you (think you will) get out of it? I wrote that the point of the class was to learn about art and I would get better at art. My second answer says that the point of the class is to teach us about art and different types and components of art. I also said that I learned about the different types and styles of art, uses of different materials, a little art history, and about elements of art like proportions and focus and how to set up the scene so the art keeps attention and about how to use vanishing lines and more elements that are used in art. I got so much more out of this class then I first assumed I would learn. At first I thought I would just learn how to draw better or make my art better. I ended up learning about techniques and tools and types of art. This class exceeded my exceptions and I really enjoyed it. |
