While constructing my part of this project, a giant ice cream cone for our life sized I Spy for the courtyard, I took three specific risks. The first was to construct the ice cream cone out of plaster rather than to paint it on card board and hang it out side. I had never used plaster before, but I had seen how complicated it could be. I really enjoyed using plaster but found it did have its set backs. On the bright side it looked nice as a finished product and it was relatively easy to manipulate. However, it cracked as it dried some of the time creating problems and it had to be put on in strips which was time consuming. I took the second risk by constructing the ice cream and the cone separately. I constructed the cone out of plaster and paper curled into a cone shape, the top was plaster over a balloon. The risk was putting the balloon on top of the cone because I had to fit it without it cracking. This went very smoothly however and the balloon only cracked on the bottom where it was not visibly. Lastly I took a risk as mentioned in the below post about hiding the ice cream cone in the courtyard. See the below post for more on that. Any how I do not have a picture of this project other than the one featured in the below post :( oops!
